Welcome to Global Interventional Radiology Symposium (GIRS) India
Welcome to the 4th edition of the Global Interventional Radiology Symposium (GIRS). GIRS returns to the garden city after successful completion of previous edition at Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. Like our previous editions, there will be a workshop.
The aim of the GIRS, as always, has been to simulate discussion and educate everyone. This year the symposium will be held over 2 days (24th and 25th of September 2016). Day 1 of the symposium will be held at the Chancery Pavilion. The theme for this years symposium is Budd Chiari syndrome and its management. Eminent clinicians - hepatologists, gastroenterologists, hepatic and transplant surgeons, interventional radiologists, will be chairing the varying sessions. In addition to the didactic lectures, there will be multiple case based discussions, highlighting the variations in the presentation of Budd- Chiari syndrome.
Day 2 will be a workshop, which will be held at BGS Global Hospital. Limited to a maximum of 40 registrants, all participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice under the watchful eye of trained and experienced interventionalists. The workshop will cover biopsies and ablations. Having recently undertaken the first microwave ablation of liver tumour in South India, participants will the opportunity to have an experience using both radio frequency and microwave ablation.
There will be competition during the workshop, and prizes will the awarded to the top three winners. May the best person win!
